Three ethnic associations have lodged reports at the Kunak police headquarters in relation to plans by certain parties to hold a ‘901 Free Anwar Campaign’ in Kuala Lumpur on Jan 9 next year.
The reports were made by Abdul Sabur Wahid, who represented several Suluk ethnic groups, Malaysia Bugis Malay Stock Unity Association division head Zahari Lorong and Kunak United Sabah Bajau Organisation chairman Abdul Rahim Wahab, about 9 am.
Meanwhile, association members were seen outside the station carrying placards protesting the campaign.
Abdul Sabur said they appealed to the authorities to investigate the matter and if found true, to prevent it and take appropriate action.
"Let the court decide, don't drag the people into demonstrations," he emphasised.
It is understood that there are certain parties attempting to hold demonstrations on January 9, in relation to the decision on PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial, scheduled for that day.
Kunak police chief DSP M Radzali Mahmud confirmed receiving the reports.
